Chevette Alston received a Bachelor's degree from North Carolina State University and a Master of Education degree in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She anticipates completing her doctoral degree at Capella University in May of 2008. Prior to becoming a licensed professional counselor, Chevette worked as a Medicaid caseworker, a jail officer, and interned as a high school counselor, diversification that has brought a wealth of knowledge to her expertise as a mental health counselor. Professional associations include the American Counseling Association, the American Psychological Association, the National Board for Certified Counselors, and the Virginia Psychological Association. She is also an American Red Cross Disaster Relief Volunteer and a Capella University Alliance Ambassador.

Chevette specializes in women's issues, relationship/communication skills, domestic violence, and trauma. She has worked with domestic batterers in private practice, using the Emerge approach for group therapy. She has also been a counselor at both a private university and a local community college and currently is in a private group practice in Virginia. On a 'personal' note, she is a Navy wife and the mother of three boys and resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
